Uttarakhand’s Chief Minister (CM) Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the Himalayan Basket at his official residence on Monday.
While addressing the people of Champawat virtually, CM Dhami said that the ‘Himalayan Basket’ was started by Sumit & Sneha Thapliyal in the year 2018. He said that Sumit is an engineer by profession & Sneha is a marketing professional. Being from Devbhoomi, both of them always wanted to do something different to provide employment to the local people.
Chief Minister Dhami said that both of them decided to establish ‘Himalayan Basket’ after considering options related to dairy, farming & their related aspects. Under ‘Himalayan Basket’, agricultural products like milk, turmeric, mint are purchased, different products are made from them & supplied to foreign countries. It is providing employment to more than 200 people to make the products.
The Chief Minister said that milk products ‘Churpi’ and ‘Ghee’ are in high demand. Because ‘Churpi’ is a special hard cheese made from cow’s milk and both of them have taken the lead in its production in Uttarakhand.
CM Dhami said that with the help of the state government & district administration, both of them have got the Horticulture Cold Storage on lease. The Chief Minister said that our government is committed to encourage those who are working in this field. He stated that our dream & resolution is to create an ideal Champawat. For this, we need that all the products of Champawat should be ideal. On this occasion, District Magistrate Shri Navneet Pandey, BJP District President Nirmal Mehra etc. were present.
