To review of the progress of the Sports Maha Kumbh-2018 Youth Welfare Minister Arvind Pandey convened meeting through video conferencing with all the District Magistrates today. It would happen in four phases i.e. Nyay Panchayat, Development Block, District and State level. The competition are being organised by the Youth Welfare Department. Meanwhile Nyay Panchayat level competition have already been concluded.

Pandey instructed all the DMs and District Sports Officers to ensure maximum participation of the players in the competition to be held in second phase at the level of development block through promotional campaign. He instructed to disburse the amount of award to the winners of the development block and district level competition on completion of the competition at the venue only.

The state-level competition of the Sports Maha Kumbh will be held from January 8, 2019 to February 21, 2019. The selection of sportspersons at the Nyay Panchayat level was completed in 670 Nyay Panchayats and in the second phase, competition in 95 development blocks will start.

It is worth mentioning that with an aim to encourage interest in sports, the Sports Minister has increased the prize money and the number of players at the Nyay Panchayat level has increased. At present, the sportsperson bagging first, second and third place at the Block level are being given Rs 300, Rs 200 and Rs 150 respectively; the sportsperson bagging first, second and third place at the district level are being given Rs 700, Rs 500 and Rs 300 respectively and the sportsperson bagging first, second and third place at the State level are being given Rs 1000, Rs 600 and Rs 400 respectively, which earlier was half of the above amount.

Sports Minister discussed in detail the preparations for organizing the forthcoming national games with the Director Sports Pratap Shah.

On this occasion, Deputy Director Sports Satish Kumar Sarki, Deputy Director Youth Welfare Ajay Aggarwal, Shakti Singh and Assistant Director S. Jayraj were present.
