The district administration has decided to cut the supply of drinking water considering the decrease in water level by one inch per day from Naini Lake. So far 16 lakh liters of water was being supplied, which has been reduced to 8 MLD. A press release was issued on Monday night by the District Magistrate Vinod Kumar Suman.
DM said that for the water level of the lake remain normal, suggestions from experts were taken. He cited the example of Shimla and said that due to lack of water there in the past year, hotel operators had to appeal to tourists to not visit the hill town. This situation should not be repeated in Nainital, so preventive steps are being taken. As a matter of fact, the control room has been set up by the Water Institute for resolving the problem related to Drinking Water. Consumer complaints can be lodged. Also, if the complaint of leakage etc. is not taken into account then action will be taken against the engineers of the Jal Nigam.
