Nagar nigam removes 164 striking employees after Dehradun’s streets overflow with garbage

These days the streets of Dehradun are overflowing with garbage. ‘Swachh Bharat’ slogan has gone for a toss in the city. There is a lack of solid initiative for diagnosing the problem. Now the action to remove striking employees has started, but there is no alternative arrangement for cleaning. The municipal corporation did not do anything special. The NGOs and the people running cleanliness projects are also missing these days. Cleaning workers are stuck on their demand. The municipal corporation and the government have their own rage. Who is responsible in such a situation?

Corporation removes 164 striking employees

With the strike lasting for the last nine days, the municipal administration has taken action against the striking employees. With the removal of 120 employees of the Nalla gang on the order of the Municipal Commissioner, 44 employees who are not available for night sweeping have also been removed. Municipal Commissioner, who has been on leave for several days from private work, took charge on Wednesday and got himself ready for the cleaning work. The administration team launched the campaign from 2 am Monday to four o’clock in the morning. Given the attitude of the administration on strike, 31 employees of night Sweeping have returned to work. This was confirmed by Additional Municipal Commissioner Neeraj Joshi. In the presence of top administration officials and police, 140 tonnes of garbage was raised from parade ground, municipal road, convent road etc. The Municipal Corporation has sought cooperation from the NGO’s.
