In view of upcoming General election-2019, the state BJP has started a programme to woo the dalit voters. The programmes include ‘chaupals’ at the houses of Dalits, resting with them at night and various other programmes. State BJP incharge and BJP national vice president Shyam Jaju said that we are elated with the public response so we would continue such programme in future too.
To begin with, the BJP president Ajay Bhatt was part of a ‘chaupal’ at Ramnagar and also participated in a community lunch. In the wake of the Supreme Court ruling on the SC and ST Act, the BJP leadership has been alive to the backlash and has been trying earnestly to put the government’s views across.
At ‘chaupal’, party workers apprised them about the ongoing programmes launched by the Narendra Modi led NDA government for their benefit and how the opposition parties were not happy with the popularity of the BJP among the SC and ST communities. He said that during this period our workers made strong bond with them and now they have become our ambassador.
“The Congress and other Opposition parties are spreading disinformation about the Modi government on the issue of the SC ruling. The BJP is in favour of the Dalits and will go an extra mile to protect their interests,” Bhatt said.
Jaju said the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan helped BJP to connect with the rural population. During this campaign party leaders and workers visited villages where the population of Dalits is at least 40 per cent of the total population. Now they would submit their feedback to the leadership for further action,” he said.
