UPES wins Auto India Racing Championship

UPES won laurels at the ‘Go Kart Event 2k18,’ which was organized under the flagship of ‘Auto India Racing Championship’ (AIRC) at Traffic Park Circuit, Pune. UPES was represented by its two teams viz. ‘Team Dirt Marshalls’ and ‘Team Fusion’ that not only qualified for the finals of the event but also bagged ‘First Positions’ winning prizes under different categories and kept the UPES Flag flying high at the enormously charged racing circuit.

Applauding the teams on their glorious achievements, Dr. Shyam Pandey, HOD – Automotive Design Engineering (ADE), UPES shared that ‘Team Dirt Marshalls’ secured ‘First Position’ in ‘Design Innovations’ for their “Paddle Shift Innovative Gear Shifting Mechanism” and its Kart Driver, Tejveer Singh (B.Tech ADE III Year) won the ‘2nd Runner-up Award’ in the ‘Best Driver’ category by the judges while ‘Team Fusion’ Captain, Manas Jaiswal (B.Tech – ADE, II Year) was adjudged the ‘Best Captain’ for his impeccable display of leadership, on time submission of reports & files and discipline during the event and its ‘Faculty Mentor’ Dr. Shival Dubey, Placement & Internship Coordinator-ADE received the ‘Dronacharya Award’ for his contribution & support to the team’s performance throughout the event timeline in the ‘Mentor Category’. “This achievement not only recognizes UPES’s competitive capabilities in every sphere but also provides us with motivation to excel further as well” he said.

Swapnil Bhurat, Assistant Professor (SS), Dept. of Mechanical Engineering & ‘Faculty Advisor – Team Dirt Marshalls’ revealed that both teams performed exceptionally well and won acclaims & appreciations of the Judges and the industry persons during the static & dynamic events. “The performance of our teams were at their best during the Endurance Race. While all other vehicles suffered damages during the race, UPES vehicles were intact and completed the circuit roaring with enthusiasm” he informed. Expressing his happiness at the outcome of the event, Dr. Shival Dubey thanked the University for supporting the teams. “The encouragement & guidance of Dr. Kamal Bansal, Dean – Academic Development & Innovation; Dr. Suresh Kumar, Director – School of Engineering; Dr. P.S. Ranjit, Associate Head – ADE, Prof. Narayan Khatri, Associate Head – Mechanical Engineering and Dr. Shyam Pandey deserves a special mention” Dr. Dubey stated.

Dr. Deependra Jha, Vice Chancellor UPES congratulated the teams & their mentors on their outstanding accomplishment and assured them of the university’s support in the times to come as well.
