Mahila Mangal Dal would be made financially independent

Uttarakhand State School Education Arvind Pandey has asked officials to prepare a work-plan related to providing employment to Yuvak Mangal Dal (YMD) and Mahila Mangal Dal (MMD) under Youth Welfare department. He asked them while presiding a meeting with officials at Vidhan Sabha, on Monday. He urged officials to make YMDs and MMD financially self-dependent and strong enough by providing them self-employment.

To make YMD and MMD financially self-dependent and strong, they should be provided with marketing services for their products, after training them. He gave directions to run an awareness program in this regard.

Various schemes being run by departments of Animal Husbandry, Garden, Dairy, Fisheries, Micro and Small Scale industries can be used to provide self-employment and make people financially self-reliant and capable for which a plan will be prepared. The Youth Welfare Department can act as a nodal department for the same. He asked officials to carry out meetings at block level, to identify such YMD and MMD who have been interested in special employment programs and are already trained.

In this regard, the minister asked to prepare a possible action plan regarding the use of school uniforms prepared by the trained men and women, of MMD & YMD by making an agreement/settlement with some larger firm/s for supply of school uniforms. Uttarakhand is one of the leading states in organic farming production, and stressed on its branding. It will help in providing a market and good prices of the products prepared by the trained MMD and YMD, he said.

It was decided in the meeting to provide a list of such YMDs and MMDs who are trained under various schemes of the industrial-training program.
Among those present on the occasion were Secretary Dr. Bhupendra Kaur Aulakh, Director Youth Welfare Vimmi Sachdeva, Director General Education Alokh Shekhar Tiwari and officers of Departments of Animal Husbandry, Horticulture, Dairies, Fisheries, Micro and small scale industries.
