A woman married with two women sent jail

DAINIK NATION BUREAU

A woman, who posed herself as man and married with two women in a traditional indian wedding in 2014 and 2016, has been arrested by the police. This has been confirmed by the Nainital SSP Janmejay Khanduri. Most of the identities carried by Sweety, such as the Aadhar card, the voter ID and the bank accounts all claimed that she was a male (Krishna).

Sweety Sen, who introduced herself as Krishna Sen to hoodwink women as prospective brides is now on a 14-day police remand and is lodged in Haldwani jail. She has been slapped with charges of impersonation, fraud and forgery (under Sections, 504, 323, 506, 468, 467 and 471 of the IPC).

Earlier, her game of posing as a man came to an end after she was nabbed from Haridwar. Acting on the initial complaint lodged by his first wife for harassing her for dowry, a hunt was started by the police. In Haridwar, Sweety was staying with her parents and his second wife whom she married as Krishna in 2016.
“During interrogation, Krishna admitted that he was indeed a woman posing as a man. A medical examination was conducted and the female identity was confirmed,” said SSP Nainital.

“The entire charade that was built around Krishna was partly aimed at fleecing prospective brides and their families for money as the family is quite poor. It could also be due to the medical condition, which needs to be confirmed by a panel of doctors,” said JanmeyJay Prabhakar.

In order to look real, Sweety beside dressing up like a man rode a motorcycle, visited local drinking jaunts and swore like man, so that no body doubted her identity.

“During the time of the marriage to his first wife, she came riding a horse complete with band, baja and barat. A costly hotel was booked for the wedding nupitals,” said Vishwa Karma, SHO, Kathgodam, investigating the case.

Significantly, the first wife (Kamna), whom Krishna married in 2014, said, “After a while, I began suspecting my husband’s identity, but did not have the courage to confront him, fearing I would be shamed by the society and he would file a case against me. But matters came to a head when he began to torture me and took Rs 8.5 lakh from my family on the pretext of setting up a factory,” said his wife, a postgraduate and resident of Haldwani.

While the first wife suspected his identity, the second wife (Nisha) who hails from Jawalapur resigned to her fate. “During interrogation, the second wife had said that she had resigned to her fate as she did not have the means to lead an independent life. Both the wives did come to know about his identity,” said Vishwa Karma, SHO Kathgodam.
