46 houses burnt in Uttarkashi village fire

There was a fierce fire in  Mori block of Uttarkashi district. There was a sudden fire in Svani village late night. Most of the village was engulfed in fire; 46 houses were burnt down to ashes. Thankfully, there was no loss of life reported in the accident. On the spot, the team of SDRF, police and administration is engaged in relief work. The rescue team took some time to reach the spot due to the village being in the remote area. The area was so remote that it was morning when the rescue team arrived.

Svani village under the Mori Development Zone of Uttarkashi turned into a raging inferno last night. The roof has been snatched from the head of more than 50 families. According to the information, the fire took place around 1:30 in the night. Only four houses in the village were left standing. Most of the houses were wooden. Therefore, the fire could not be controlled.

Road not reaching the village yet

Svani village is about 200 km from Uttarkashi district headquarters. This village is located on the border of Himachal Pradesh. There is a road to Jakol village, from here to reach Savwan, one has to trek 7 kms on foot .

Administration received Information 1 hour after the fire started

The district administration got a report of a fire in the village at around 2:30A.M. Administration and police team left for Svani village. District Magistrate Ashish Chauhan told that the team of relief and rescue team and administration was sent on the spot.
