GRPF & RPF told to share information of criminals

State Director General of police Anil K Raturi has asked the  Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) officers to coordinate among themselves and share information related to the criminals. Make adequate arrangements of CCTV cameras, baggage scanners and goods scanners at the railway stations. You should be extra vigilant on the criminals who rob the passengers while lacing their food with poison. You also publicise the helpline number 182 across the state, which is solely for the passengers in the running train. He has given these directions while presiding a high-level meeting with the State railway security arrangement committee members here on Monday. He asked the officers concerned to ensure fool- proof security for the passengers when they pass through the State’s territory.

DGP  also stressed on the security of the women passengers. Squads comprising RPF and GRP personnel should also be deployed in trains based on requirement and necessity.

He has directed them to randomly check the CCTV cameras installed at various places in the railway station areas. The dysfunctional ones must be repaired immediately. Expressing concerned over animals being mowed down under the wheels of the speeding trains, DGP said that the railway tracks should be identified along which the animals move regularly. He further suggested joint patrolling with forest department officials being conducted.

State police Spokesperson and ADGP Ashok Kumar  said that several decisions have been taken by the state police chief during the meeting. As per the Union home ministry’s guidelines, DGP Raturi is taking meeting of the state level railway security arrangement committee once in three months. SP, GRP, RPF, NER and NR aside from the forest officers attended the meeting.
