One more deadline to builders

In a bid to facilitate to builders, the Uttarakhand government has extended the last date of mandatory  registration under Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) till February 28. Even state would not charge penalty too.

The Cabinet meeting that was presided over by Chief Minister TS Rawat gave its nod for extending the deadline for registration under RERA to February 28. “This is a one-time samadhan scheme for the builders and colonizers. They have an opportunity to register under RERA without paying the penalty,” Madan Kaushik, government spokesperson and Urban Development Minister, said.

The government will return the late fee that the builders and colonisers had deposited as part of the earlier deadline. “We will return the funds that we have received in the hope that the builders will return the same to the consumers from whom they had charged in a bid to pay the late fee,” said Kaushik.

Now according to the new deadline the government will charge one per cent cost of the project/ scheme as late fee for registration from builders who register after February 28 and between March 1 and March 31, between April 1 and April 31 it will be 2 per cent of the scheme, between May 1 and May 31 it will be 5 per cent of the scheme. Between June 1 and June 30 as much as 10 per cent of the scheme will be charged.

Kaushik said since the government started registration under RERA, the government had collected around Rs 2.9 crore as late fee, which would be returned to the builders so that they can in turn give back to the consumers.

Around 200 builders /colonisers have registered under the scheme. In another important decision, the Cabinet also extended the annual statement under GST for the business men to March 31, 2018 without charging any late fee.

In another decision, the Cabinet also gave its approval for extending the benefits of seventh pay commission to the employees of Uttarakhand Space Application Centre (USAC).
