A 30-year-old man shot dead outside the Rohini court premises on Monday. The gory murder was captured by CCTV cameras which showed four men alighted from a car and intercepted the man, identified as Ravi Bhardwaj while he was standing outside a road side eatery shop near Rohini court.

At least 25 rounds of bullets were fired at Ravi, who had come to court to meet a lawyer, till his death on the spot.

Narrating the sequence of events, a senior officer said, “Bhardwaj came out from court with his friend and went to take food items from a shop in the Rohini Sector 22 area. While he was waiting for the food to get packed, four unknown attackers in a Honda City car stopped near him and started firing indiscriminately at him.”

“The attackers’ ceased firing after being satisfied Ravi was dead. They also fired into the air to deter the onlookers before escaping from the spot.

Bhardwaj’s friend called the police and he was taken to nearby Ambedkar hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Following on the statement of his friend, a case of murder has been lodged against a gangster, Gogi and three unknown persons at the Prashant Vihar police station. The entire crime was recorded in CCTV footage and efforts are on to ascertain the identities of accused attackers,” he added.

Police suspect gang rivalry between Tilu gang and Gogi gang as the prime reason behind the cold blooded murder.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Rajneesh Gupta said, “A call was received at around 1.30 pm about firing incident. It was found that one Ravi Bhardwaj (30) was shot by three to four assailants while he was taking food at a Chole Bhature shop. When taken to the hospital he was declared brought dead. Investigation is on.”

“Prima facie it appears to be a possible case of ongoing gang-war between two active gangs ‘Tillu gang and Gogi gang’ over some previous animosity in west Delhi. Bhardwaj had good contact with Tillu gang. His friend, in his complaint, named Jitender alias Gogi of being involved in the murder him with his three other accomplices,” added a senior officer.
