A committee to probe inordinate delay of road construction

Following on the instruction of cabinet minister Subodh Uniyal, the Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash has formed an inquiry committee for delay in construction of a road in Rishikesh. The committee has been deadline to conduct enquiry and submit their report within one week. The construction of the road between Kailash Gate-Muni Ki Reti in Rishikesh is pending for long. 

To review the progress of the road, cabinet minister Uniyal had called the senior officers of the PWD and State Government at his office on Monday. He found the road which was estimated to be constructed at a cost of Rs 4 Crore in the year 2006 has now escalated to Rs 50 Crore. The budget for the road was not released for many years and in the revised estimates the budget escalated to Rs 35 Crores in the year 2013.

Later Uniyal asked them that the three lane road should be constructed in next six months. After finding the inordinate delay in the construction of the important road a committee headed by the Chief Engineer was appointed.

The committee would be comprised of three members including two technical advisers would be the members of the committee.
