Opp insensitive on women issue; Rahatkar

BJP women wing national president Vijaya Rahatkar said today that by denying support to the Muslim Triple Talaq bill in the Rajya Sabha the opposition parties have shown their insensitivity to the problems affecting women.

“The Bill came for the welfare of women but the opposition did not allow it to be passed in the Rajya Sabha. It shows they are not with the suffering women who were being issued talaq through telephone and other social media platforms,” alleged Rahatkar while addressing to media here in party office on Thursday.

She also termed the Bill that was brought by the BJP before the Parliament as an achievement and it also displayed her party’s commitment to women and their issues.

Questioning on why her party failed to factor in certain provisions as demanded by the opposition, Rahatkar said, “These could have been included after the passage of the Bill.

The efforts would be made to ensure 50 per cent of the party tickets are given to women candidates in the upcoming urban local bodies election in Uttarakhand.

BJP has given maximum number of tickets to women at every level. She will press upon her party to give more and more women representation in upcoming local bodies election.

The Party will focus on making women Self Help Groups in Uttarakhand and make contacts with Aaganwari workers. It strengthen the party at booth level and it yielded good results in Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat.
