Beach Kabaddi Debuts in National Games, Uttarakhand Teams Shine

Beach Kabaddi made its debut in the 38th National Games, sparking excitement among players and sports enthusiasts. The competition began on February 9 on the banks of the Ganga in Shivpuri, Rishikesh, marking a historic moment for the sport in India.

The inclusion of Beach Kabaddi in the National Games was lauded by players, who credited the Uttarakhand government and Mahesh Joshi, President of the Uttarakhand Beach Kabaddi Association, for this significant milestone.

Ravindra Singh, captain of the Uttarakhand men’s team, expressed his enthusiasm, recalling his previous bronze medal in Beach Kabaddi when it lacked national recognition. Pooja Mehra, captain of the women’s team, welcomed the decision, highlighting how it provides players a platform to showcase their talent at the national level.

In a promising start, both the men’s and women’s teams from Uttarakhand registered victories in the inaugural matches. Mahesh Joshi expressed confidence in the teams, stating, “Uttarakhand has a bright future in Beach Kabaddi. The state government deserves credit for this achievement. Our teams will leave this land with medals.”

The event has ignited enthusiasm among players and spectators, establishing a new chapter for the sport in India.
