In a bid to give respect and honour to Women, every year International Womens’ Day is being observed on March 8.This year International Women Day’s theme is ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress’. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami led Uttarakhand government is putting all efforts to bring women in mainstream.
Uttarakhand also celebrates this day as a day of achievements made by women in various sectors. There was a time when women used to take care of households only but now women role are completely different. Not only they are well-educated but also working in government and private sector too. Women of Uttarakhand are special as they have been serving the nation in various capacities such as doctors, nurses, engineers, teachers, govt. officers in various state govt. departments. They are also serving in Uttarakhand’s police, in Indian Armed Forces & in paramilitary forces. This makes the state proud of its women.
Uttarakhand’s Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami led govt. too is working for wellbeing of women by promoting women empowerment through women entrepreneurship. The state is running many women-friendly schemes such as Uttarakhand Women Integrated Development Scheme to create understanding of Panchayati Raj System & to make them self-reliant. Nirbhaya Scheme to provide safety to girls & to take strict action against those who violate their modesty. Mukhyamantri Satat Ajivika Yojana that gives a monthly scholarship of 1000 to women during their training period & a one-time grant of 50,000 on their completion of skill-training in Uttarakhand. Tilu Rauteli Scheme is another scheme that gives a certificate & a cash prize of 10,000 to girls & women for their outstanding achievement in various segments. Last but not the least is the Nanda-Gaura Yojana which provides financial help to girls & aims at improving girlchild sex ratio in Uttarakhand.
CM Dhami govt. is running all these schemes to empower women & ensure their progress. The state govt. is also offering may schemes to promote women involved in handloom & handcraft industry, agriculture sector & dairy sector. The state govt. is providing loans at very low interest along with grants, free training & many non-financial services for free, to women to make them self-reliant. Recently CM Dhami govt. also introduced Uniform Civil Code in vidhan sabha which was passed. This bill will ensure women security in multiple ways & will take care of their economical woes. Another bill passed by CM Dhami led govt. is 30% reservation for women in all state government jobs & scholarship for girls & women who perform well at national & international level sporting events. They will also be provided govt. jobs across various departments of the state government.
