DU organises annual design symposium

School of Design Doon University organized its Annual Design Symposium today in Doon University Campus dehradun. Its objective was to create awareness about design education and the increasing role of design in the state of Uttarakhand, the symposium hosted various dignitaries from the field of design who spoke on various design related issues and fields.

School of design being the most economic design school in India raised issues and concerns regarding imparting Design Education in a country like India where a field such as design is still in its formative stages. In his address vice-chancellor Dr. CS Nautiyal said that he is looking forward to creating symbiosis in various schools of the university and creating a multifold and cross disciplinary approach to education.

The Chief Guest author, media consultant and ad-guru Amit Shankar talked to the students about working towards achieving excellence as the only benchmark in the field of design. Besides the symposium the school also hosted various workshops for students to orient them towards the field of design. Workshops like upcycling, digital sketching, mechanism for aero-modelling and photography sparked a lot of interest in the students. The symposium also had speakers like Nupur Agarwal, Founder of Evolve Foundation, Tarun Kumar, founder of AZIMUTH ashram Haridwar, Richa Ghansiyal, Founder of Alaya Design Studio and Gagan Khanna Design guru & mentor.
