In pursuance of orders of honorable court, the exercise of demolition, identification of illegal encroachments and illegal constructions on footpaths, lanes, roads and other places and sealing of illegal encroachments in Dehradun city by Mussoorie- Dehradun Development Authority, Municipal Corporation, Dehradun and district administration has been going on.
Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash informed that the work of removing illegal encroachments will again start speedily after the ‘Investors Summit of October 8. He said that 70 per cent encroachments from main roads have been removed. He further said that the honorable court has given six months time to the departments of Nagar Nigam, Awas-Vikas, irrigation and power department to remove the illegal encroachments from the government land. He said that encroachments will be removed from government at all costs. He also instructed the officials of the concerned departments to ensure the removal of illegal encroachments from the land of their departments within the stipulated period. He said that after October 8, illegal encroachments from all main roads, lanes and bylanes under Dehradun Municipal Corporation will be removed.
Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash said that strict vigil is being maintained at the places where illegal encroachments have been removed including Premnagar that till the work of concretization, widening and beautification of roads in those areas, there are no fresh encroachments. He said that FIRs will be lodged under relevant sections of IPC against all those who will indulge in encroachments again.
He said that the making of pillars erected after removing encroachments has also been going on. He said that the administration has been getting support of the public in the demolition drive against illegal encroachments and expected that such support will continue in future also.
Om Prakash instructed the officials of the Anti-Encroachment Task Force not to work under any pressure and complete the work of removing illegal encroachments as per the orders of the honorable courts. He again appealed to the house owners having built their houses on government land to remove their encroachments otherwise anti-encroachments task force will demolish the encroachments. He said that if the encroachments are removed by task force then such illegal encroachers would be liable to pay the charges of removal as per land revenue rules.
Om Prakash instructed the officials of the Dehradun Municipal Corporation to organize the cleanliness of city speedily. He said that a large number of tourists, pilgrims and visitors come to Dehradun city and it is the responsibility that the upkeep of Dehradun is top grade giving a positive message to the visitors about the state capital. He said that the cleanliness of the city will be monitored.
