As far as government initiative to help the farmers. This year nine himalyan states are going to celebrate himalyan Diwas in 300 places on September 9. It means government is making full efforts to educate the people about the importance of himalaya. In an informal interaction with the media, Chief Minister said that Himalaya Diwas is being celebrated on the 9th September for past many years. This year from today, the Himalaya Week has started. It is our endeavour that this should not just be confined to celebrating Himalaya Diwas for just a day.

Parmarth Niketan head Swami Chidanand  said that as we measure country growth through GDP so similarly we should introduce GHP (Gross Happiness product). By saving himalya we can build water bank, herban bank and oxygen bank too.

Hesco Chairman Dr Anil Joshi said that by saving himalaya we can save country because we know largest cultivable land falls in Ganga basin. We know Ganga originates from Himalaya.

Conventions, seminars etc. will be organised at different places throughout the week. Safe Himalaya affects not only India but also a large population of the world. Protection of the Himalayas is essential for securing life. For this, along with the efforts being made by the government, everyone will have to play an important role by taking collective responsibility for the protection of the Himalayas.

Chief Minister said that about 65 per cent of our food grains are supplied from Ganga basin, whereas 65 per cent of the water supply is from the Himalayas. Himalaya’s spiritual, social, health and economic impacts have huge impact. Himalaya is also a symbol of purity. Himalayan protection is not only verbal but also spiritual. Himalayan protection is both legacy and future. Prime Minister’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan has brought effective social and economic results. We have to pay special attention to the revival and cleanliness of our rivers. Rivers are the means of water transport and not for the transport of litter.
