IAF officer detained for allegedly leaking details on Facebook, Whatsapp

An Indian Air Force (IAF) Group Captain has been arrested for allegedly spying and sharing crucial information with a woman on WhatsApp and Facebook. The accused was posted with Air Headquarters in New Delhi.

The spying was unearthed during counter-intelligence surveillance conducted by the IAF’S Central Security and Investigation team.

“The IAF Central Security and Investigation team discovered that the officer was indulging in certain unwanted activities through unauthorised electronic devices,” an IAF official said.The officer according to sources said that the IAF official was under watch. His behaviour was suspicious in nature following which surveillance on him had been mounted, the source familiar with the probe informed OneIndia. The source added that he was allegedly indulging in certain unwanted activities. It was found that he was using unauthorised electronic devices. He has been taken into custody for questioning. IAF officials said that they would not identify the officer now considering the issue is very sensitive in nature. We are still in the process of questioning him, the officer also added.
