A group of 42 students had gone to an excursion to Sitawani in Nanital district in 2010. They were accompanied by two teachers, Ashish Dwivedi and Rohit Jalaal. The children were driven in a tractor- trailer which overturned, killing two students and injuring seven others.

The parents of the two students, Anmol Bhatt (14) of Haldwani and Ibrahim Ansari (14) of Kanpur, had filed a case against the tractor’s driver, Anand, and the two teachers.
