In his message issued on the eve of Vijay Diwas, the Governor said that this day gives us the opportunity to express our respect and gratitude towards our armed forces, also paying homage to our martyrs who laid down their lives for us. Te soldiers of the Indian army, considered one of the best armies in the world, have always been present at the borders to defend the country while helping in internal emergency situations as a reliable and strong force. The entire country saluted the indomitable strength and valour of our soldiers who are dedicated to the solidarity and security of the country. “We are proud of each one of our soldiers.”

It may be recalled here that on December 16, 1971, India defeated Pakistan after 14 days of war. Indian soldiers displayed exceptional courage. In memory of this victory and to pay homage to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives, December 16 is observed as Vijay Diwas.
