The newly elected BJP legislators appeared ecstatic after taking oath in Vidhan Sabha premises on Tuesday. Summing up the atmosphere senior BJP leader Munna Singh Chauhan and MLA from Vikasnagar said, “I had a privilege of being a part of many legislative assemblies both in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh but the enthusiasm shown by the members today is unprecedented.” On a cautious note he said that the expectations of the people of the state are very high from the BJP government and it should take the historical mandate as a challenge to deliver a good performance. Chauhan however skirted the question of his induction into the state cabinet. A beaming Rajkumar Thakral, an MLA from Rudrapur said that BJP government would bring an all round development of the state. Cabinet Minister and Haridwar MLA Madan Kaushik said that the government would take strict action on corrupt officials and would focus on development. Apart from these stalwarts the enthusiasm of first time MLAs was clearly visible. They were seen surrounded by their supporters in the Vidhan Sabha premises. One such MLA Vinod Kandari from Rudraprayag assembly said that youth had reposed their faith in BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
While most of the MLAs took oath in Hindi, Rishikesh MLA Prem Chand Agarwal and Rudraprayag MLA evoked attention when they took oath in Sanskrit.
