Nainital District Magistrate Vandana Singh has convened a meeting with stakeholders on Wednesday at the Nainital office auditorium . She discusses preparations and arrangements for the upcoming tourism season. The meeting addressed various issues, including parking management, traffic congestion, illegal encroachments, and sand and gravel removal from roads.
Addressing the attendees, District Magistrate Vandana Singh acknowledged the persistent problem of traffic jams during the peak tourism season in the city. To address this concern, she announced plans to establish private parking facilities at strategic locations such as Metropol, Pines ITI, Russian Bye Pass, and Narayan Nagar. Additionally, arrangements will be made for shuttle services from Russian Bye Pass and Narayan to transport visitors from out-of-state vehicles to Nainital.
To mitigate congestion along the Mall Road-Zoo route, Singh instructed the police administration to limit parking for Zoo shuttle services to no more than four vehicles and to issue fines for vehicles exceeding this limit. She also directed the Public Works Department to expedite road repair and beautification efforts along Mall Road and other internal routes.
For areas experiencing traffic congestion like Kainchi Dham, Bhawali, and Bhimtal, Singh announced plans for parking arrangements for external vehicles at the Sanitorium-Nainiband bypass. She further outlined plans for road widening, provision of electricity, and beautification projects across 63 identified roads and streets in the city.
In addition to addressing infrastructure concerns, Singh emphasized the importance of enhancing visitor experience by providing amenities such as seating areas in parking lots, clear signage displaying taxi rates, and improved waste disposal facilities at Metopol.
The meeting was attended by key officials including ADM P.R. Chauhan, Senior Superintendent of Police P.N. Meena, SDM Pramod Kumar, RTO Nand Kishore, and representatives from taxi unions, hotel associations, and trade boards.
