Army chief reviews SMC, Pauri

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat along with Army Chief General Bipin Rawat visited Medical College, Srinagar and, later, reviewed it’s progress at a meeting held on Sunday. He said that considering the sensitive and tough geographical conditions of the state, Uttarakhand government has sought assistance from Indian Army to provide best medical facilities to these hospitals.  He said during his meetings with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Army Chief General Bipin Rawat and other higher officials, it was agreed upon to provide medical facilities by army at Srinagar based medical college.
Chief Minister Trivendra Singh said that it was the result of local MLA Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat’s efforts that Army Chief General Bipin Rawat agreed to operate Base Hospital and Medical College situated at Srinagar after visiting these hospitals. He said medical facilities would be started soon at Base hospital, and medical college at Srinagar after completing necessary formalities. The Indian Army will equip the Base Hospital with medical facilities after receiving the consent from Defense Minister Niramala Sitaraman with an aim to give better health facilities to the people living in the hills, he said.

General Bipin Rawat said that efforts will be made by the Indian Army to provide medical facilities to the ex-servicemen, their dependents and general public in the medical college. He inspected the various wards of the Base Hospital and inquired about various medical facilities from the doctors, pharmacists and medical personnel deployed there. He also visited Emergency, OPD, Surgical Ward, OT, MLT Lab and many other places, and held discussions with doctors and officials of medical management of the base hospital. Later, General Bipin Rawat reached the Medical College from Base Hospital.

Along with medical management of the medical college, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh, Health Secretary Nitish Jha, Director Health Dr. Ashutosh Sayyan and Principal/Dean Medical College Srinagar, Dr. CMS Rawat held detailed discussions about how the Indian army can provide multiple medical facilities.

Present on the occasion were Pauri Garhwal SSP JR Joshi, SDM Ramji Sharan Sharma, ASP Harish Verma, SDM (Rural) KS Negi, SDM Srinagar MD Joshi, CMO Dr. RS Rana, senior army officers, doctors and employees.
