Prasad, made up of local produce, to be promoted in temple

Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said that “Prasad” sacrament made of local food grain and products will be promoted in 625 major temples to promote consumption of local products and empowering the woman self-help groups across the State.

Around 3.15 crore tourists visit the State every year. If branding of sacrament made of local products is done adequately, the initiative will prove fruitful to strengthen the rural economy through job creation based on local resources. if we sell Rs 100 per prasad then SHG can earn Rs 80 crore per annum.

He explained that completely local food grain and herbs would be used to make sacrament and joss sticks. State Government will support the women self -help groups for the purpose. HESCO and Chardham Development Council will give technical support and training for the initiative. The initiative has been successful in Badrinath dham already.
