After receiving a clutch of complaints that schools are detaining students on pre-board test result, the Central Board of School Education (CBSE) strictly ordered affiliated schools not to detain students from appearing for the boards.
The board issued an advisory to all schools asking them to follow examination byelaws in letter and spirit.
CBSE has warned the schools saying that if any student isn’t allowed to give the practical or theory papers due to the non-issuance of admit card, then it will be seen as a violation of the Board’s order. The notification added that in no case can the heads of the affiliated schools detain eligible candidates from appearing in the examinations according to the Rule 15 of Examination Bye-Laws. Explaining the motive behind the move, CBSE said that the Board issues admit cards to only the students who are sponsored by the schools. Thus, the schools have no right to block admit card of any students whom they have already finalised.
