chief secretary has categorically asked the police to be polite while dealing with tourist. Taking cognizance on the state Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj’s letter, in which he has expressed dissatisfaction with the arrangement of district administration to facilitate the tourists during tourist season especially new year, chief secretary convened a meeting with home department, tourism and transport department along with hotel association on secretariat.
During meeting CS has categorically asked the police, who keep harassing people on the name of traffic management, to make long term plan to deal with traffic woe. Although he has also asked them to find out its solution without disturbing anyone.
it has been noticed that this year tourist foot fall was below than the last year in Nainital and Mussoorie. Even it has been disclosed that tourist, who had advance booking into hotel, were not allowed to reach their destination by the police on the name of traffic management. he has also asked them that you ingrained in your mind that tourism is backbone of the state economy so you behave properly with the tourist.
Tourism department was asked to introduce golf cart to ferry tourist or make alternate arranagement. Even he has asked the department concerned to build multi level parking system so that the destination should not face jam like situation. Hotelier alleged that police has been harassing tourist because they put barricade at kuthal gate so that tourist can’t enter into hotel based at Rajpur road directly.
