Organic farming impossible without animal

Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said that Animal Husbandry and Agriculture sectors are very important when it comes to creating maximum employment opportunities. Currently, organic products are getting more importance across the globe gradually. Organic farming can’t be imagined without animal husbandry. Economy might be improved if animal husbandry related works are done in a well-planned manner. He expressed these views after inaugurating the Administrative Building of Animal Husbandry Department and launched the logo of the Department on Friday at Pashudhan Bhawan Complex in Mothrowalan, Dehradun.  Chief Minister also distributed the Animal First Aid Box to the cattlemen on the occasion.

During the program, CM apprised that Civil Aviation Ministry has given approval to Dehradun-Pantnagar air service. The said service will be started from the end of the February. He said that air services from the Gaziabad (Hindon) to Pithoragarh, Almora, Shrinagar, Gauchar and Lansdowne have also been approved under the Udaan scheme. These air services will be started within 6 months.

Chief Minister stressed on the up gradation of indigenous progeny breeds. State Government will set up sex semen center in Rishikesh to increase the population of cows in the State.  One thousand cows have been selected for indigenous breed cow’s cultivation scheme. Arrangements will be ensured for the animals wandering freely on the streets so that till the organization of Kumbh 2021 no animal might be left on the streets without shelter. Government is firmly committed for the purpose. He stressed on the more professionalism for dealing Animal Husbandry aspects. Breed cultivation of Badri cow is being done in village Nadiyal of District Champawat to increase the milk production.

Pithoragarh district succeeded in reducing the sex ratio. Some months ago its sex ratio was 813. On account of serious efforts by Woman and Child Development Department along with District Administration, sex ratio of District Pithoragarh reached from 813 to 914. He emphasized that sex ratio among the children aged 0-6 needed to be balanced in coming 5 years. State Government will take every possible effort to achieve the target for the purpose.

CM apprised that micro planning is being worked on to rejuvenate the Rispana and Kosi rivers. Eco Task Force and USERC have been assigned the task in this regard. He appealed for active people’s participation for the campaigns.

Saung Dam project will provide gravity water by Rajpur Raod and it would save electricity worth Rs 100 crore. Similarly, Pancheshwar Dam project and Jamrani Dam may provide gravity water to District Udhamsingh Nagar and Haldwani respectively.

Minister for Animal Husbandry and Woman and Child Development Rekha Arya appreciated the initiatives taken by Animal Husbandry Department for the development of the concerned sector. Pashudhan Beema Yojna is being implemented to promote the animal husbandry. We need to make aware the cattlemen about the scheme. Uttarakhand State was awarded with first prize for indigenous animal cultivation by Union Agriculture Minister on the World Milk Day on 01 June 2017. Jeevan Lal of District Bageshwar received the first prize for indigenous animal cultivation at National level.

Mayor Vinod Chamoli said that research needed in Animal Husbandry sector of the State. Animal Husbandry should be connected with the economy to check the migration in rural areas. Goat Farming, Poultry, sheep farming might become major factors to strengthen the economy.

Secretary Animal Husbandry Department, Dr. R Minakshi Sunderam apprised about the achievements of Department. 90 percent foot and mouth vaccination has been completed. Artificial insemination percentage has increased in the State.  Union Government has given approval to set up sex semen centers in 19 States. Uttarakhand is going to be become the first State to implement it. Projects are being worked on to set up new centers for breed cultivation in Bhatwari and Kapkot. . One thousand cows have been selected for indigenous breed cow’s cultivation scheme
