To protest against the double engine led BJP government, Uttarakhand Congress took out a Jan Chetna rally on two-wheelers on Monday. During the rally they alleged failure of the state government in tackling price rise and the situation arising after the implementation of the GST.
Ironically PCC president Singh himself driving two wheeler and given his version to media while sitting on two wheeler. the rally strated from the party headquarters on the Rajpur road.
Talking to dainiknation.com, Singh alleged “The BJP has failed to fulfil promises made to the people of the state. No new jobs have been created. It has also failed to come to the rescue of businessmen who continue to face problems after the GST. ”
Women members and youths from the frontal wings of the party also participated in the rally, which concluded on the GMS road. More than 3,000 persons participated in the rally.Heavy police force was deployed en route to assist the commuters. Traffic was diverted on several routes such as Tehsil Chowk, Doon Chowk, Darshan Lal Chowk, CMI Chowk and Survey Chowk. At least 46 barriers were set up.
At several places, the Congress had put up posters highlighting the issues that it raised today. The posters questioned the BJP government on unemployment, inflation and its alleged failure to address the issues of farmers. Meanwhile, the rally was also seen as an effort to gather party workers to discuss preparations for the upcoming urban local bodies elections
