The budget deficit has started to ease in organizing the International Winter Games in Auli. The government has given permission to organize the event on a grand scale in accordance with the requirement by approving Rs 12 crore advance budget. The tourism department has claimed to complete all preparations on time after getting the supplementary budget.
Following the successful organizing of SAIF Games 2011, there is agreement on organizing International Winter Games in Auli. After the budget and other bottlenecks in the event, the Indian Olympic Association has issued the schedule for the International Winter Games to be held from January 14 to 21. After getting the hostel, the State Government has also ordered the Tourism Department to mobilize the necessary facilities in Auli.
For this, the tourism department has been asked to spend from the Advance Budget in the Auli to repair slopes, construction works, repair and installation of other machines including the Snow Making Machine, and the gathering of players involved in the Winter Games. Tourism Secretary Dilip Javalkar said that all preparations have been started in Auli.
In addition to experts, activities related to games and other activities are being done. Tourism, GMVN and the district are assembled in Chamoli with this coordination.
Snow Making Machine Contract
The Secretary of Tourism says that the French company has contract with the government to repair the poorly accumulated snow-making machine. About five crore rupees are being spent on this. If the snow does not fall, the machine will make artifical snow in Auli. Since 2011, due to non-maintenance of the machine, it is completely damaged.
