Weather may spoil the upcoming winter session

Weather may spoil the upcoming winter session, which is schedule to happen at Bharadisain between December 7-13, because the area receives snow fall during winter. As we know that Trivendra Singh Rawat led Uttarakhand government has decided to convene winter session in newly constructed assembly at Bharadisain. Even Assembly has issued a notification on it. Ironically the session would be six days long but technically it would be for four days because two days i.e. Saturday and Sunday (Dec9-10) would be holiday. Although officials are finding it very difficult to organize the session when winter would be at its peak. Although leader of opposition Indira Hridayesh has questioned that do they have made arrangement for the police and Vidhan Sabha officials upto class iv employee? She said that during session winter would be at its peak there.

As we know that for legislature there is hostel and even officers get settled in hotel or guest house but employee don’t get proper facility. The area needs lots of care during summer season and during winter the area receive snow fall which means bone chilling weather.  She further said that in view of harsh weather condition former government had organized the session during summer season or at the beginning of winter session. Even BJP kept demanding that Gairsain should be declared as summer capital of the state then why they are conducting winter session there?

Talking to media, CM Rawat reiterated that their government is committed to hold winter session there. In view of this, he will visit Gairsain personally to review the preparation ahead of session. We are honouring the commitment made by the legislative assembly to hold at least one session there. He made it clear that the government was unable to hold the first session of this year due to technical reason.

On condition of anonymity an official said that as government has decided to convene session there so we are bound to make arrangement but the decision seems far from reality due to prevailing weather conditiona. As we know that first spell of snow fall has already happened in hills which is why temperature has plummeted. In coming days’ temperature would come down and for the last few days there is no bright sunny day reported which means cloud accumulation happening and if it persists then snow fall would be imminent. If this happens then rescuing these people would be a challenge for the state.
