universities should inculcate cultural ethos in the students; CM

Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat has exhorted the Vice Chancellors (VC) of the universities to promote outstanding research which has far reaching consequences for the State. He was addressing a seminar on Quantitative and qualitative management in higher education in Doon University, Dehradun today.

He expressed hope that deliberations during the seminar would fetch positive results in future. The efforts should be made to improve quality of education along with inculcating cultural ethos in the students. CM called upon the universities to participate in the campaign to rejuvenate Rispana, Bindal and Kosi rivers in the state.

With the help of general public state government would undertake a massive exercise to clean and rejuvenate these rivers and experts of hydrology and environment should come forward with their ideas on the issue.

The Minister of State Minister for Higher education, Dhan Singh Rawat said that one common act for both the private and Government universities would soon be brought up. State government has decided to make National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) compulsory for all colleges of the state. State Government has regularized the academic session in colleges and universities and now focus would be on quality education.

The process of recruitment of 877 assistant Professors is currently in progress. Biometric attendance system has been made compulsory for Principals and the Principals have been directed strictly enforce teaching of 180 days in a session. The Principals will write letters to the parents of the students who are not regular.

The Vice Chancellors of 31 universities, registrars and Principals of 119 government and government aided colleges of the state were present on the occasion.
