Govenor Dr KK Paul and CM Trivendra Singh Rawat paid homage to “Brahmleen” Swami Dayanand Saraswati at the Swami Dayanand Ashram, Rishikesh on Friday.
Paying tributes to Swamiji, Dr Paul said that he was a unique example of knowledge , philosophy and spirituality and contributed greatly to the welfare of humanity. The path Swami ji showed us would make it possible to work for human welfare. It is my good fortune that in September 2015, I came to the ashram with the prime minister and took the blessings of Swami ji.
They also released a book that is a collection based on of the lectures and thoughts of Swami Dayanand ji. He said this collection of the ideas of the Swami would give direction to society .
Indian civilization was the oldest in the world and many other old civilizations had vanished .It is only the Indian civilization that is still surviving in its original form even after five thousand years .Religion and spirituality are factors that have contributed to this .
Our civilization had faced several challenges like the situation from which Adi Shankaracharya had to bring out the society in the 8th century .In the 15th and 16th centuries, Guru Nanak, Tulsidas, Kabir, Meera Bai, Surdas, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and s other saint poets gave direction to our society.
In the 19thcentury, this was done by Ramakrishna Parmahansa, Swami Vivekananda, Brahmo Samaj, Arya Samaj and Prarthna Samaj. In the challenging times of the 19th century, Ramakrishna Parmahansa gave the message of Vedanta which says that the service of human beings is the service of God. This brought new energy to Hindu religion. Vedanta was the foundation stone of the Hindu religion .It is the apex of knowledge , the sacred intellect of Hindu saints and the ultimate experience of truth .It is the essence of the Vedas.
The Vedas, Upanishads, epics ,Puranas and other great works of our Rishis and Munis have been guiding the path of human welfare. It is our responsibility that we conserve and cherish this great heritage for posterity. In these times, the messages of spirituality and philosophy (message of world peace and brotherhood ) are relevant for the entire world.
The CM Rawat said that the contribution of Swami ji to India and the conservation of Hinduism was recognized not just in India but the entire world. Swami Dayanand had taken forward the tradition of Adi Shankaracharya and today lakhs of his followers were promoting the tradition .He paid homage to Swami ji and said the way shown by him would guide us.
Other dignitaries including Vidhan sabha speaker Premchand Aggarwal, Shri Krishna Gopal, Cabinet minister Subodh Uniyal , Swami Viditmanand ,Shri Venkatramaraja and several other eminent persons were present there.
