Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, while addressing the media after the budget presentation in the Assembly, congratulated Finance Minister and his team for presenting what he termed a “historic budget” in the silver jubilee year of the state. He emphasized that the budget reflects the priorities and future vision of the government, aiming for sustainable and inclusive development.
The Chief Minister highlighted that for the first time in Uttarakhand’s history, the budget size has crossed ₹1 lakh crore, marking a 13% increase from the previous year. He noted that the current budget is 24 times larger than the state’s first-ever budget. The financial plan has been structured around key themes such as ecology, economy, innovation, inclusive growth, sustainable development, technology, and accountability.
Several new initiatives have been incorporated into the budget, including the River Front Development Scheme, the formation of the Migrant Uttarakhand Council, the introduction of electric buses under the Smart City project, the establishment of a Sports University, and the creation of welfare funds for Home Guards and police personnel.
CM Dhami said that the budget follows the ‘NaMo’ theme, focusing on innovation, self-reliance, great heritage, and dynamic human resources. Additionally, the government has prioritized “Gyan”—representing the welfare of the poor, youth, farmers, and women. Financial management has also been a key focus, with efforts to boost state revenue through internal resources.
Education, rural development, infrastructure, healthcare, and industries have been given special attention in the budget. The Chief Minister affirmed that the budget aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas.” He expressed confidence that the budget would be a milestone in Uttarakhand’s development, pushing the state towards becoming a leader in the country’s growth.
