Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Radha Raturi Gets Six-Month Extension

DNB/Dehradun: The Union Government has granted a six-month extension to Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, extending her tenure until March 31, 2025. Raturi, who was set to retire on September 30, 2024, will now continue serving as the state’s top administrative officer until the new deadline.

The decision was confirmed by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) in a letter addressed to Uttarakhand’s Additional Chief Secretary on Saturday. The extension allows Raturi to remain in office from October 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025, as per the relaxation of Rule 16 (1) of the All India Services (Death-Cum-Retirement Benefits) Rules, 1958, and invoking Rule 3 of the All India Services (Conditions of Service-Residuary Matters) Rules, 1960.

“I am directed to refer to the proposal of the Government of Uttarakhand on the above-mentioned subject and to convey the approval of the Central Government for the extension of service of Radha Raturi, Chief Secretary, Government of Uttarakhand, for a further period of six months from 10/10/2024 to 31/03/2025,” read the letter signed by Bhupinder Pal Singh, Under Secretary, DoPT.

Radha Raturi, one of Uttarakhand’s most distinguished bureaucrats and the first woman to hold the position of Chief Secretary in the state, has been instrumental in shaping various policy decisions during her tenure. Her extended leadership is expected to ensure continuity in the state’s administration, especially on key developmental projects.

Raturi’s extension comes at a crucial time as Uttarakhand navigates significant administrative and developmental challenges, including infrastructure development and environmental sustainability initiatives.
