Anti Drug helpline luanched by Jammu Police in Poonch

In a significant initiative aimed at supporting citizens abroad and combating drug abuse, the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Jammu Zone,  Anand Jain, IPS, along with Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, IAS, inaugurated the “Overseas Helpdesk” and “Anti-Drug Helpline” at the Conference Hall of District Police Lines (DPL) Poonch today.

The event was attended by senior officials including  Tejinder Singh, IPS, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) RP Range, Ch. Mohd. Yasin, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of District Poonch, and Yougal Kumar Manhas, JKPS, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Poonch.

ADGP  Anand Jain emphasized the necessity of the Overseas Helpdesk, which is designed to address and resolve the issues faced by citizens who have migrated abroad for education, livelihood, or other purposes. “RPHQ Rajouri is pleased to announce the establishment of a dedicated helpdesk to redress the grievances faced by our citizens while being away from home. The helpdesk is equipped with two helpline numbers and an email address to ensure easy access and prompt response,” said Jain.

The Overseas Helpdesk will serve as a critical support system for expatriates, ensuring that their concerns and issues are effectively managed. This initiative reflects the commitment of the Jammu authorities to the welfare of their citizens, irrespective of their location.

In addition to the Overseas Helpdesk, the launch of the Anti-Drug Helpline represents a proactive step in combating drug abuse in the region. This helpline aims to provide immediate assistance and support to individuals affected by drug abuse, offering a vital resource for both prevention and rehabilitation efforts.

Divisional Commissioner Sh. Ramesh Kumar highlighted the importance of these initiatives in enhancing public safety and well-being. “The establishment of these helplines is a testament to our dedication to the welfare of our citizens. The Overseas Helpdesk will bridge the gap between our expatriates and their homeland, while the Anti-Drug Helpline will play a crucial role in our fight against drug abuse,” Kumar stated.

The newly launched helplines are expected to have a significant impact on the lives of many, providing timely assistance and fostering a sense of security among the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir, whether they are within the country or abroad.
