The prime suspect of Baba Tarsem Singh murder case has been shot dead in an encounter by Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) in Bhagwanpur, Haridwar during the early hours of April 9. This has been confirmed by state’s senior police official.
Baba Tarsem was shot dead in Nanakmatta gurudwara premises by bike borne two youths. The incident had given goosebumps to everyone and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who known for his action than word, had taken the incident seriously. He also visited to the near and dear one house and assured them stringent action will be taken against the accused.
Uttarakhand Police’s swift action has reiterated that Under Dhami regime no one will be spared if he or she disturbes law and order of the state. The police’s message was clear in taking down the criminal responsible for Baba Tarsem’s murder in the encounter.
Baba Tarsem Singh was a renowned figure in the Sikh community of Terai, known for his contributions in education and healthcare in Nanakmatta. His outreach extended beyond the Sikh community, garnering respect from diverse groups. Baba Tarsem Singh had close ties with political leaders from various parties, including BJP, Congress, among others. CM Dhami himself frequented his camp, forging a personal connection.
Upon discovering Baba Tarsem Singh’s lifeless body, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami was visibly moved. He expressed his deep emotions, vowing that justice would prevail. Uttarakhand Police worked tirelessly, apprehending the culprits, ultimately resulting in the encounter and demise of criminal Amarjeet Singh.
On March 28, the murder of Baba Tarsem Singh, the head of Sri Nanakmatta Sahib Gurdwara Dera Kar Seva, sent shockwaves across Uttarakhand. CM Dhami made a personal visit to Sri Nanakmatta Sahib Gurudwara, reflecting the gravity of the situation.
Post the tragedy, CM Dhami directed Uttarakhand Police DGP Abhinav Kumar to take stringent action, leading to a relentless pursuit of the accused. Recent days saw the apprehension of those involved in the crime, culminating in the encounter with the main perpetrator, Amarjeet Singh, late Tuesday night in Haridwar.
The Special Task Force (STF) confirms Amarjeet Singh’s involvement in the brutal murder of Baba Tarsem Singh. While one perpetrator managed to evade capture, the STF’s successful operation marks a significant breakthrough in this case.
