The amount of scholarship given under the Scheduled Caste Post-Major Scholarship Scheme under the Social Welfare Department has been increased. The amendments made by the Central Government in this scheme will also be adopted by the Uttarakhand Government led by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
The increase in the amount of scholarship has been approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by CM Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday. Under the scheme, the new scholarship (day-scholar and hosteler) rate for Scheduled Caste students has been changed. In Group-A (undergraduate and postgraduate level professional courses), the scholarship rate has been increased to ₹13,500/- for hostelers and ₹7,000/- for day-scholars. Similarly, in Group-B (other professional courses for degree, diploma certificate), the increase has been increased to ₹ 9,500 for hosteler and ₹ 6,500 for day scholar.
In Group-C (all other undergraduate and postgraduate courses not included under Group 1 and 2), the fee has been increased by ₹ 6,000 for hostelers and ₹ 3,000 for day scholars. Whereas in Group-D all post-matriculation (after class 10th) non-degree courses, the hike has been increased by ₹ 4,000 for hostelers and ₹2,500 for day-scholars.
