Vigilance may arrest secretary

Beware if you are working in secretariat with a belief that you have impunity from vigilance then think twice because state government is going to empower state vigilance department to nab upto deputy secretary level without seeking prior permission from government.

Recently an audio appeared in public forum. In which a section officer is demanding Rs 40 lakh on behalf of Secretary and Rs 50000 as service charge from a person to clear his file related to Tehri district. As the audio clip reached to the government then the secretary was removed from the department concerned with immediate effect. Although they could not gulp the act of section officer. Taking cognizance on it they are going to empower the state vigilance department to catch the accused without government’s prior permission.

Although the order is yet to issue but the upcoming notification act has raised the eyebrow of secretariat employees upto deputy secretary. On condition of anonymity an official said “Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat is saying ‘their government has adopted zero tolerance on corruption. Under his leadership dual order is going to issued. If government really running crusade against corruption then they should empower vigilance to catch anyone including chief secretary if they have clinching evidence against them.”
