With a view to bring uniformity in the operation of the universities, a meeting to bring a uniform Act for the State Universities by the Uttarakhand government was held under the chairmanship of the Minister of Higher Education Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat at Secretariat. Vice Chancellors of all government and private universities of the state participated in the meeting. In the meeting, Dr. Rawat said that with an aim to make the higher education qualitative and to provide all the students an opportunity of uniform education, an Umbrella Act has to be brought for the universities of the Uttarakhand. For this, suggestions have been sought from all universities, so that the University Act can be prepared with the consent of all.
Notably, a a nine member committee has been formed for this work by the government, in which Vice Chancellor of private university SRHU Dr. Vijay Dhasmana, Vice Chancellor of Sri Guru Ram Rai University Prof. P.P Dhyani, Vice Chancellor of IMS Unison University Dr. Rajendra Kumar Pandey has also been included as a member. Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat said that book donation campaign and drug de-addiction campaigns have been started by the state government. He expected the Vice Chancellors of the universities to cooperate in these campaigns and conduct awareness campaign on drug de-addiction in hostels under the universities.
In the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Ranveer Singh, Vice-Chancellor Sridev Suman University Dr. U.S. Rawat, Additional Secretary Dr. Iqbal Ahmed, VC Kumaon University Prof. D.K. Nauriyal and Adviser RUSA Prof. K. D. Purohit were present.
