Driving license to be linked with Aadhar

DAINIK NATION BUREAU

Union IT and Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has said that the government was contemplating linking driving licences with Aadhaar cards to end forgery of driving licences.

“Talks are on with Union Minister for Surface Transport Nitin Gadkari to link driving licences with Aadhaar cards. It will help in nabbing rash drivers who even after an incident of rash driving or an accident go on to get forged licences made from other states,” said Prasad while talking to mediapersons.
Prasad, who on a visit to Uttarakhand, paid obeisance at the Kedarnath and Badrinath temples and announced the setting up of a law school in Dehradun.

“I have made suggestions to the minister concerned of Uttarakhand to first visit law schools in Bhopal and Jodhpur and then come up with their own layout of the school,” he added.

Replying to a question about opposition in some quarters to Modi’s government’s decision to open bureaucracy for lateral entry by inviting 10 joint Secretary-level posts, Prasad said, “It is not something new. Former PM Dr Manmohan Singh made a lateral entry in the finance sector. Now we want to expand it to other sectors as well”.

He said the government was ready to speak with the opposition on the passage of the triple talaq Bill. Currently it is pending in the Rajya Sabha as the Congress is not interested in its passage, but there are people in the Congress who are in favour of the Bill and we will speak with the party on the issue.
