Uttarakhand Kaushal Vikas Samiti ( Uttarakhand Skill Development Committee) is organizing ‘India Skills-Uttarakhand 2018,’ a skill competition to improve the skills of youth of the state. A Garhwal regional level beauty therapy competition was held at Oren International in Dehradun on Thursady. A large number of youth from Garhwal region participated in the competition.
Uttarakhand state will be participating for the first time in the World Skills Competition which is world’s biggest competition as known as Olympiad for skills under the leadership of Skill Development Mission, Director, Dr Pankaj Kumar Pandey. The World Skills competition is held after every two years. The purpose of the global competition is to develop skills so that more number of youths can horn their skills and take it up as their profession.
A total of 27 youths from Garhwal participated in the competition held in Dehradun today and five best competitors were selected. Akansha, Rukhshar and Rajni Thapa stood first, second and third, respectively, while Palak and Mahima bagged fourth and fifth positions, respectively. The selection jury was Bharati from Oren Academy, Chandigarh, Mahesh from Geetanjali Saloon, Vinita from Wonder Lap saloon who judged the competition.
The competition in Kumaon division will be held on April 11. The selected candidates would participate in a state level competition to be held on April 17 at Geetanjali saloon, Dehradun. The selected candidates would be sent for national level competition and from there, selected candidates would participate in World Skill Competition 2019, which is going to be held in Russia.
