The Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has inaugurated the fifth Uttarakhand Spring Bird Festival at Thano reserved forest area, Dehradun on Friday.
In his address, the CM said that in addition to natural beauty, state is also rich in wildlife diversity. The purpose behind organising this programme is to reduce the increasing gap between forests and common people. It will also promote bird-watching, which in-turn will increase tourism and provide employment to local people.
Referring to the importance of wildlife, Rawat averred that the Government is taking necessary measures to conserve it.
State Forest minister Harak Singh Rawat said that promoting bird-watching will boost employment opportunities. Chief secretary Utpal Kumar Singh and Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) Jairaj were also present on the occasion.
