The Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has categorically said that the victory of the BJP’s in Tripura and other north eastern states assembly elections are bigger than the party victory in UP and Uttarakhand.
Following on the direction of party high command, state chief minister in the presence of state BJP President will address media and where party is not in power there party president will brief the media, Rawat addressed media at state BJP head office on sunday.
Rawat said, “Political history was made in the North East on the occasion of Holi with the saffron spreading its presence in the north eastern states which was unexpected for many. The BJP won the assembly polls in Tripura and is also in a position to form the government in Nagaland. This shows that the policies of the BJP have received the approval of people across the nation. About 70 per cent of the people are now in BJP or NDA governed states. In the remaining states be it Karnataka, Odisha or West Bengal, election results in the future will also be similarly unprecedented. The party workers in Tripura worked hard for this. During 2017, seven party workers were murdered in Tripura but the party cadre became more determined to rout communism in that State.
This is a result of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s look east policy and BJP national president Amit Shah’s strategy. As part of the look east policy, work has been done in the North Eastern states without any bias.
As in other states, major developmental works have been facilitated in Sikkim where there is a non-BJP government in office. In addition to this, the prime minister’s plan to link the North East to Thailand will also achieve major development in the region,” he said.
Referring to the recent meeting of the BJP Chief Ministers, Rawat said that earlier the party’s national president had said that the number of the BJP’s CMs should increase.
“Earlier the number of BJP chief ministers in the meeting was 13, which rose to 14 in the recent meeting. This number will now increase to 16 in the next meeting.
The party’s victory in the north east is bigger than the victories achieved earlier in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh,” added the chief minister. The BJP State president Ajay Bhatt, MLA and party spokesman Munna Singh Chauhan among other party leaders were also present at the press conference.
