Logistikas 2018 concludes at UPES

A two-day event ‘Logistikas 2018’ organized under the aegis of ‘Department of Logistics & Supply Chain Management (LSCM)’, School of Business, UPES concluded on  March 26. With an objective to impart knowledge about the upcoming trends and technologies in the field of logistics to its students they conduct it annually.

GHV Rao, State Head – HPCL, Uttarakhand; Alok Srivastava, Promoter Sabziwala, New Delhi; Anugunj Agarwal, Founder – Suvidha Retail Stores and Ajit Srivastava, Deputy Manager – Mahindra & Mahindra, Haridwar shared their experience as the ‘Industry Experts’.

Sharing the details of the event, Dr. Neeraj Anand, Head – Department of Logistics & Supply Chain Management, SOB revealed that the distinctive platform of the event provides the students with an opportunity to interact face to face with the industry experts.  “The significance of learning outside the classroom and managerial skills are realized and achieved through such events” Dr. Anand emphasized.

In his lecture GHV Rao, Head – Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited shared his insight on Retailing & Distribution of Petroleum products with the participants while the Promoter of ‘Subziwala’ – Alok threw light on the ‘cold chain production & supply’ of fruits & vegetables. “The Sabziwala stores are coming out with their own model of prepacked fruits & vegetables on the existing format of eggs & breads very soon” Alok revealed. Delivering his address, Anugunj Agarwal expressed the importance of private labelling in retail trade and shared his knowledge on the various aspects of retailing with the gathering. The other eminent speakers from the Industry, Ajit Srivastava from Mahindra & Mahindra also shared his experiences with the students.

Amongst the several fun filled activities & competitions organized across the two days, the prominent ones included ‘Flavor-e-Azam’; ‘Creative Minds’; ‘Mr. & Ms. Logistikas 2018’; ‘Tug of War’; ‘Pack’; ‘Stack & Move I’; ‘Logiquiz’; ‘Slow Cycling’ etc. Mohammad Shoiab won the ‘Slow Cycling’ completion while Ashish Barge &  Mansi were adjudged the ‘Winners’ of “Mr. & Ms. Logistikas 2018’ respectively. ‘LX’ – the magazine of the LSCM Department was released during the event in the presence of senior faculty of School of Business Dr. Shailendra Pokhriyal, Associate Dean – Academic Audit; Dr. Deepankar Chakrabarti, Associate Dean – PG; Dr. Saurabh Tiwari – Assistant Prof. (SG) & Pradeep Chauhan – Assistant Prof. (SS).
