DAINIK NATION BUREAU
As we know that government has failed to provide better medical facility in their hospital which is why people take their near and dear one to private hospital for medical treatment. When they go to private hospital then they realise that how these hospitals suck blood of the patient.
On the name of hygiene and sanitation they make huge money and patient has no option except to pay the inflated bill of the hospital. Seeing its margin several corporate hospitals have come up. Earlier they were confined in metro or satellite areas but now they have grown up in small cities as well. People rush to these hospitals in search of better facility but they become victim of the corporate loot. Here are few tips by following it you can save your hard earned money i.e…………
FIRST
Before admitting your patient, you must enquire with the account department about the tentative cost of the treatment. As you know that these hospitals are like five-star hotel so they give surgery package of different disease like tour package. While buying tour package you enquire about travel, stay (1 Night + 2 days), food and local site seeing etc. similarly you enquire about the package in details about how many days patient’s stay included into the treatment package? how much extra charges would be applicable if patient gets shifted into ICU after surgery or stay get extended? Whether the operation package includes doctor charges, Anesthetic charge, OT charges and oxygen charges etc? Whether food of the patient would be inclusive or extra? If your patient condition deteriorats, will they provide transportation to higher centre? If yes, then how much money they will have to pay for this? Most importantly you must take your treatment package details in writing and don’t trust verbally because after surgery they change their tone and you would not have option other than fulfilling their demand.
SECOND
As you know these hospitals ask the patient to go for medical investigation including pathology. Once patient gets admitted then hospital’s loot begins. For instance, if you go for blood test or ultrasound or MRI or X-Ray then they will charge 20 percent more than the Out Door patient (OPD) so better you ask the doctor to mention all the tentative tests on OPD prescription and give all the samples before admission.
For instance, if you go for MRI then IPD ( in-house patient department) patient will have to pay Rs 6500 while OPD Patient will pay Rs 5200 only. If you go for any kind of test, then IPD patient will have to pay 20 percent more than the OPD charge. They give good discount to the OPD patient as part of lurement.
THIRD
On the name of infectious diseases, they force the patient to buy syringe and needle at least thrice a day. As we know that these things get infected once they came in contact with blood. To administer injection through canula they need fresh syringe in at least three type i.e.2ml, 5ml and 10 ml. Ironically these injections they inject either through canula or by injecting into saline bottle. Now question is that these syringe’s cost would be in between Rs 10- Rs 20. If you buy three types of syringe thrice a day during four days stay in hospital, then your syringes cost would be hover between Rs 1000-Rs 2000. You can reduce its cost by keeping close monitoring on it or buy these syringes from outside hospital where its cost would much cheaper than hospital. You may question that if you are so much money conscious then why you take your patient into corporate hospital then answer would be because you love them and want to provide better medical facility. As you know that you have admitted your relative for the sake of better treatment so you will not make compromise with hygiene.
FOURTH
On the name of infectious diseases like HIV, HBSAG and Hepatitis C they force the patient to buy surgical-kit. To convince the patient or their attendant they give explanation that we throw the used gown after doing surgery of the infected patient but in reality they do not do this. If you ask them to return it after surgery, then they don’t give it to you.
