CS reviews char dham yatra preparation

Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh reviewed the preparations for ‘Char Dham’ Yatra with all the District Magistrates enroute the yatra through video conferencing, on Tuesday. He sought the feed back of the District Magistrates and instructed that that there should be no impediment in the traffic during widening work of the ‘Char Dham Yatra’ road.

He asked the district officials to report by first week of April month that all the roads are free from potholes and traffic can ply without any hindrance. He instructed that all the DMs should form teams of the concerned departmental officials  to monitor the road situation’ stretch wise’.

He was apprised that all the accident prone areas have been identified and machines would be deployed at such spots permanently. The transport department has made arrangements for 1500 buses and would provide them with green cards after testing. A total of 270 mobile towers of BSNL would be working on the route. The Health department has also prepared it’s action plan with availability of life saving drugs and deployment of doctors on the route.   The new 108 ambulances would be deployed on the route. The food and supply department will ensure rate lists at hotels and restaurants and availability of kerosene, petrol and other essential food items. The urbane development department will ensure cleanliness in all the 26 Civic bodies enroute the “Char Dham yatra”.

 The police department will deploy additional tourist police and inform the pilgrims about the condition of roads and weather through SMS. Sulabh International will run 127 toilets while tourism department will have 165 public conveniences enroute.

Tourism department has made arrangements for making online registration while pilgrims can also register at Rishikesh. The pilgrims going to Kadarnath can use mobile app to know about important  places and also get information about road blocks and weather conditions. Principal Secretary Food and Supply Anand Vardhan, Secretary Tourism Dilip Jawalkar, Secretary Water resources Arvind Hayanki, ADG Ashok kumar, DIG Pushpak Jyoti, Additional Secretary Urban development Vinod Suman and additional secretary Health Arunendra Kumar Chauhan and other officials were present during the video conferencing.
