14 year old in Hyderabad commits suicide after being denied to sit in class for non payment of fees

A 14-year-old girl ended her life after authorities at the private school where she studied allegedly didn’t allow her to attend classes for not paying the fees, police said.

The girl, a Class IX student, allegedly hanged herself from a ceiling fan at her house in Malkajgiri area on Thursday evening. She was feeling humiliated after she was asked to leave the class for non-payment of fees, family members alleged. Deepti’s family was going through a major financial crisis for a long time. As a result, Deepti’s father, an auto driver by profession, was not able to pay her school fee on time.

The school authorities, however, due to non-payment of dues didn’t allow Deepti to write the exams. The action taken by the school authorities led the innocent girl into depression and therefore, she decided to commit suicide.

Deepti also left a small handwritten note for her mother saying ‘sorry’.
Meanwhile, the Child Rights Organisation has demanded strict action on the school and alleged that the school management is responsible for the death of the 14-year-old girl.

The Malkajgiri police had registered a case against Jyothi High School. On the other hand, the education department has also initiated an investigation.
