The Uttarakhand PCC President Pritam Singh has condemned the comments made by Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat regarding suicide threatened by those claiming to be disappointed with the Government system.
Instead of opining that suicide threats have become a fashion in Uttarakhand, the Chief Minister should treat the issue seriously and choose his words carefully when commenting on such a sensitive issue.
Interacting with media at the Rajiv Bhawan here on Wednesday, the Pritam Singh referred to the CM’s comment about “suicide threats becoming fashionable” in the state following the suicide by transporter Prakash Pandey.
He said that during the elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party had made many promises to the farmers and other sections of society. However, after being elected to form government in the State, the BJP had not followed through on its promises made to the farmers and public.
The farmers and traders in Uttarakhand are suffering due to the policies of the Government but the statements of the Chief Minister are revealing an insensitive attitude of the Government towards their issues.
To elicit focus on the issues of the public which the government is ignoring, the Congress will organise a public awareness rally in Dehradun on January 29, added the PCC president.
